A Streak of Good Shows

Les Miserables - which I saw the stage production of at the Fox this weekend, was awesome. There was so much that I had forgotten- and so much that I couldn't wait to see again.

Phantom... the movie... easily surpassed my expectations, but I still feel like something could have been done better. Doesn't keep me from wanting to see it a third time.

So... when I hear about movies like The Corpse Bride and MirrorMask, then I get excited all over again. What do I expect? What do I want?

I- can't be sure.

For example- I expect a good yarn from Tim Burton for The Corpse Bride, being based on a legend... I found the legend without really looking for it- just more general information about the movie. I've heard that it should be straight to video- and I hope it is... short films never fare well. Johnny Depp really looks like Johnny Depp- or as much as one can as a stop-motion puppet.

For MirrorMask- it feels like Labyrinth all over again- only much, much cooler. Look at the trailer, and tell me who doesn't want to go to what could potentially be the visual spectacular of the year ala Madeline L'Engle. (And if someone knows whether or not there's a good movie of her books somewhere, let me know.) MirrorMask is based on a comic book series- which I can honestly say I haven't read. But I do know that It's a Jim Henson production and (I belive) a Sundance film contender.

Must wrap this up, class in a matter of minutes. Don't forget- Tell me who's in for seeing these after viewing the trailers!

Minivan before the end of this week- driving people (or to people) in a matter of months. Yay!
