(or rather, what I've been up to since I last blogged on here...)
I admit it, I've forsaken the blog for a bit. "Theeze theengz do 'appen now and again." I guess I've been just waiting for summer to disappear.
Not in that "I can't wait until my summer is behind me" sort of expectation. It just feels like I'm always looking forward and keep forgetting to look back until it's too late. (Then I see the wreckage I've left behind me, like godzilla. Or the Stay-puft Marshmallow man. But I digress.) I could spend the entire fall listing what I didn't do during summer, and that would be quite counterproductive, eh?
SO, what have I been up to? I went to the Japanese festival Labor Day Weekend. It was a blast, I only wish I could have spent more time there. Going out that morning, I blasted my radio to a song by Asia (whose title I couldn't look up and therefore can't remember) that brought all kinds of happy nostalgia over me. I got to see the candyman show, and left just before sumo wrestling was meant to start. Still had to sleep before work, and I was seriously afraid that I might not be able to drive properly if I didn't get my tailfeathers home.
Drac and I are planning for KC, still... but management's being slow as hell about approving vacation time. (General concensus from everyone I've talked to about it: It's owed to me, they ought to just fork it over.) I'm getting so excited... words do not describe.
Oh, Bob had a birthday on Saturday. *big virtual hugs out to Salt Lake* HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Adam's Mark is still up in the air over the buyout. They (tentatively) moved the dates on us, so we have to wait until Halloween. (Trick or Treat, little boys and girls...) I'm going to plug in a vacation request for Halloween, too. Just because I don't think he's willing to let me LWOP an entire evening.
I also find it amusing that they FINALLY put up barriers on their internet service. One can no longer log on to things like Myspace, Youtube, and nearly 4/5 of the websites on the internet. I always expected that if there was going to be one, it'd be in place, but I kinda figured they'd always get around to it eventually. I guess it's kind of a release. "It's about time!" Now I can get back to my reading.
Drac put me through the uncut version of The Stand. Long book, fun, but left me feeling strangely unfulfilled. He's got me on tap for the Dark Tower series next.
9/11 is still in my mind and heart, as my father's off to Chicago. He's taken his own van, but that doesn't change that it'll be in another major city on the sixth anniversary of a terrible tragedy. I remember, as many probably do, being fixed to the television. Many at work, at home- I happened to be at school in second hour, watching as the media- and then the country- came to a screeching halt for twenty four hours. MJ was playing his yearly anniversary broadcast commemorating the victims of the attack- reminding us of the fear and suspense we felt that day as the events unfolded.
To the survivors, and those survived by friends and family, my prayers are still with you.
